More Minnesota homeowners are adding an EV to the driveway and want to charge it at home instead of relying on public stations. Doing that right means a hardwired Level 2 charger, a check on your electrical panel, and a permit — not just an outlet in the garage.
A standard wall outlet will charge an EV overnight, but it’s slow, and it’s not always the safest way to run that much current for hours at a time. A hardwired Level 2 charger charges faster and is built for daily use — but it needs to be sized to your panel and installed by someone who knows the local code.

Mounting the charger on the wall is the easy part. Before that happens, we run a load calculation to confirm your panel can handle the added draw and pull the permit your city requires. If you already have solar or battery storage, we can tie the charger into that system as well.
Permits and inspections: We pull the electrical permit and schedule the city inspection as part of the job, in line with NEC and your utility’s requirements.
Load calculation: We check whether your existing panel can handle a Level 2 charger. If it’s close, load-management equipment can sometimes avoid a full panel upgrade.
Planning ahead: If a second EV or an addition is on the horizon, we can size the wiring and panel capacity for that now instead of redoing the work later.
One contractor: We handle the wiring, the permit, and the inspection ourselves, so you’re not coordinating between separate companies.
