Here’s what the process actually looks like:
We start by looking at your home, not a catalog. That means checking your electrical panel, your garage or driveway layout, and how you actually drive and charge. From there we recommend a charger that fits your vehicle and your budget — not just the most expensive option on the shelf.
Most Level 2 chargers pull more power than a typical outlet was ever designed for. We check whether your existing panel has room for that load or whether you’ll need a panel upgrade first. Skipping this step is how people end up with tripped breakers or, worse, an unsafe installation — so we check it before any wire gets pulled.
EV charger installs in Minnesota require a permit and a final inspection, same as any other electrical work. We file the permit with your city or county, do the work to code, and schedule the inspection ourselves so you’re not the one on hold with the permitting office.
In practice: we pull the permit before we start, wire everything to National Electrical Code standards, and book the inspector once the install is done and tested.
Our licensed electricians run the circuit, mount the charger, and make the connections at the panel. Depending on your setup, that can be a straightforward add-on to your existing service or a bigger job if a panel upgrade is needed — either way, the same crew sees it through.
Chargers can be mounted directly on a garage wall or set on a freestanding pedestal near your driveway. Which one makes sense depends on where your panel is, where you park, and how far the run needs to go — we’ll walk you through the tradeoffs on site.
