Solar only works as well as the electrical system behind it, and that’s the part most solar companies don’t touch. iSolar is a licensed electrical contractor first — solar, battery and EV work all run through that same license — so when a panel is too old, a meter socket is failing, or a circuit isn’t there yet, we fix it ourselves instead of subcontracting it out or telling you it’s someone else’s problem.

Load center & panel upgrades

A lot of Minnesota homes still have 100-amp electrical panels installed decades ago, and those panels are often maxed out before solar, a battery, or an EV charger ever enters the picture. We’ve replaced load centers on homes where the existing panel simply didn’t have the capacity or the breaker space to add what the homeowner wanted — upgrading to a 200-amp panel opens up the room for solar, storage and future circuits without guesswork.

Utility meter sockets

The meter socket is where your home connects to the utility’s grid, and it has to be in good working order for that connection to be safe and code-compliant. We’ve replaced corroded and outdated meter sockets as part of larger electrical upgrades, coordinating directly with the utility so the swap is inspected and reconnected properly.

New circuits for lights, outlets & equipment

Adding a heat pump, an EV charger, a hot tub, or even just more outlets in an older home usually means running new circuits, not just plugging into what’s already there. We size and install those circuits to code, whether it’s a dedicated 240V line for a charger or additional lighting and outlet circuits for a remodel.

Because we’re the electricians and the solar installer, these upgrades get planned together instead of in separate trips from separate companies.
