We don't disappear after install day.
Monitoring, a free first-year inspection, honest snow-and-cleaning advice, and 30-year warranty service by our own local crew — so your system keeps producing for decades.
Solar is low-maintenance — but not no-relationship
A good solar system has no moving parts and asks almost nothing of you. The difference between installers shows up in years 2 through 30: do they still answer the phone? iSolar is built to. We monitor your system, inspect it, and stand behind it — the same local family, every year.
Four ways we stay on it.
You watch your bill shrink; we watch the system.
Monitoring & alerts
Per-panel production in the app, with alerts to you and to us, so problems are caught early.
Free 1-Year Total Care inspection
A full check-up at year one — panels, inverters, wiring, racking, seals and production — with a written report.
30-year warranty service
Covered repairs done by our own crew under the insurance-backed Solar Insure warranty — parts and labor.
Detach & reset
Need a roof? We remove and reinstall the array and our roofing family does the roof — one schedule.
The iSolar Total Care Advantage
Every iSolar installation includes a free comprehensive inspection at the one-year mark — the Total Care Advantage. We check panel condition, the inverters/microinverters, every electrical connection, the racking and mounts, your production against what we projected, and the seal at each roof penetration, then hand you a written report. It's how we catch the small stuff before it's big stuff — protection, performance and peace of mind, on the house.
Snow & cleaning, the honest version
You'll hear sales pitches for cleaning plans and snow rakes. The truth for Minnesota: you almost never need either. Rain and the natural snow-shed off angled, smooth glass keep panels clean, and cleaning typically recovers only a few percent of output — rarely worth the cost or the fall risk. Snow slides off within a day or two of sun, and that minor winter dip is already in your estimate. Please don't climb up to scrape or wash — if something genuinely needs attention, that's what we're for.

Three Rivers Contracting

Frequently asked.
Does solar actually need maintenance?
Very little — there are no moving parts. The main things are keeping an eye on production (which we monitor for you) and the occasional check-up. We back that with a free first-year inspection and 30-year coverage, so you're not on your own.
What is the iSolar Total Care 1-Year Inspection?
A free comprehensive inspection on every install at the one-year mark: panel condition, inverter/microinverter check, electrical connections, racking and mounts, production analysis against expectations, and a roof-penetration seal check — finished with a written report. Protection, performance and peace of mind, included.
Do I need to clean my solar panels?
Rarely in Minnesota. Rain and snow-shed keep them clean, and the tilt sheds dust and pollen. Studies show cleaning typically recovers only a few percent of output, so it's seldom worth the cost or the risk. If a specific situation calls for it (heavy pollen, birds, ground-level dust), we'll advise — but please don't climb on your roof to do it.
What about snow?
Panels are smooth, dark glass mounted at an angle, so snow usually slides off on its own within a day or two of sun, and the small winter loss is already baked into our honest estimates. Don't rake or scrape the panels — you risk scratching the glass or hurting yourself for a few kWh. Your summer overproduction, banked via net metering, covers the short winter days.
How will I know if something's wrong?
Monitoring. Your system reports per-panel production to the app, and alerts go to both you and iSolar — so we often spot an underperforming panel or a comms dropout before you notice anything. Then we diagnose and fix it under warranty.
Who fixes it if a part fails?
We do — our own local crew, not a 1-800 number. With the 30-year, insurance-backed Solar Insure warranty covering panels, microinverters, labor and roof penetrations, a covered failure is handled at no cost to you, even if a manufacturer has gone out of business.
What if I need a new roof later?
We handle that too — it's called detach & reset. We remove the array, our roofing family (Three Rivers Contracting) replaces the roof underneath, and we reinstall and recommission — one call, one schedule, no finger-pointing. See how detach & reset works →
Can you service a system another company installed?
Yes. If your original installer disappeared, we take over orphaned systems — including transferring your monitoring/maintainer account (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tigo) into our name so we can watch it and handle service.
Will my production fade over time?
Slowly and predictably. Quality panels degrade well under ~0.5% a year, so after 25 years you're typically still at 85%+ of original output — which is exactly what the performance warranty guarantees and what our honest estimates assume.
Is there anything I have to do?
Almost nothing — glance at the app now and then, keep the area around any ground-mount clear, and call us if an alert pops up. We handle the rest.
Home solar across the metro & central Minnesota.
We install residential solar across roughly nine counties and beyond — the Twin Cities metro plus central Minnesota. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask.
Questions about your system?
Call the local team that installed it — or have us take over and service one you already own.
