Environmental Benefits of Solar

We stumbled across Enphase’s own Environmental, Social, and Governance Report recently, and a few of the numbers were too good not to share:

We install a lot of Enphase equipment on Minnesota rooftops, so when their Environmental, Social, and Governance Report came out, we dug in. Here’s what jumped out at us:

  • Since 2006, Enphase microinverters have generated 43.4 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy, preventing 31 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from entering the atmosphere
  • 43.4 billion kilowatt-hours of solar energy is equivalent to powering 3.9 million homes with energy for one year; or not consuming 3.5 billion gallons of gasoline; or not driving 76 million miles by an average gas-powered passenger vehicle

And on the storage side:

  • 53,942 total grid outage events backed up by Enphase batteries
  • 4,495 monthly grid outage events backed up by Enphase batteries
  • 147 daily grid outage events backed up by Enphase batteries

Numbers like that are part of why we build most of our installs around Enphase gear — it’s technology that’s proving itself at scale, not just on a spec sheet. If you’re weighing whether solar or battery backup makes sense for your own roof, we’re glad to walk through what it would actually look like for your home.
