An EV is the biggest new load most homes will ever add. Plan it with your solar, not a year later, and you save money and a second permit.
A typical EV adds roughly 3,000–4,000 kWh/year — a big jump in your electricity use. That changes how big your solar array should be and whether your electrical panel has room. Doing it all in one design is cheaper and cleaner than bolting on pieces later.

A Level 2 charger draws real power; your main panel may need capacity or an upgrade. Add a battery and you can charge on stored sun

If a car is on the horizon, yes — planning solar, panel capacity and the charger together avoids a costly second project.
Can I charge my EV directly from solar?
Largely yes during sunny hours, and with a battery you can shift solar to evening charging. Net metering also lets daytime surplus offset evening charging.
