Free tool — unbiased third party

Compare Solar Bids

Got a few solar quotes and not sure how they really stack up? Run them through SolarBidAnalyzer — an independent, third-party tool that scores each bid on price, equipment, financing and fine print, side by side. We’re confident enough in our work to put iSolar head-to-head with anyone in a place we don’t control.

Why we send you to a tool we don’t own

An honest bid is easy to spot when the field is level

Most “which quote is best?” advice comes from someone hoping to be the answer. SolarBidAnalyzer isn’t ours — it’s a neutral, third-party analyzer that grades every bid on the same scale: real price per watt, panel and inverter quality, warranty and monitoring, financing terms, and the small print that quietly changes your payback. Paste in your quotes and it lays them out plainly, no sales pressure attached.

Line up every bid

See price per watt, system size, equipment and financing for each quote in one clean comparison instead of four different PDFs.

Catch the fine print

Escalators, dealer fees, weaker warranties and undersized systems all show up — the things that make a “cheap” bid expensive later.

Then judge us fairly

Add our quote to the mix. We’d rather you choose iSolar because the numbers hold up than because we were the only story you heard.

Read the fine print

Red flags to watch for in a solar bid.

The cheapest quote often isn’t — these are the things that quietly change your real cost. A neutral scorer catches them; so do we.

Escalator clauses

A low monthly payment that climbs 2–3% every year. Over 20 years that “affordable” lease or loan can cost more than owning outright — it’s a big reason we don’t do residential leases or PPAs in Minnesota.

Hidden dealer and financing fees

A large slice of some quoted prices is a dealer fee baked into the financing — sometimes 20–30% of the total. Ask every bidder for the cash price and the financed price side by side.

Under- or over-sized systems

A system that covers only part of your usage looks cheap but leaves you buying grid power for 25 years; one sized well past your usage just pads the total. The right size matches your real kWh.

Vague equipment

“Tier-1 panels” and “a quality inverter” aren’t brands. A real bid names the panel model and wattage and the inverter — ours is SEG 440-watt panels with Enphase IQ8A microinverters.

Thin or split warranties

A 10-year workmanship warranty, or separate manufacturer warranties you have to chase yourself, isn’t the same as one 30-year policy on labor, roof and parts. Ours is backed by Solar Insure.

Good questions

Frequently asked.

Does SolarBidAnalyzer cost anything or need a login?

No. It’s free and there’s no iSolar account to create — you paste in your quotes and read the comparison. It opens in its own tab, so you won’t lose this page.

What happens to the bids I paste in?

SolarBidAnalyzer uses them to build your side-by-side comparison; it doesn’t require any iSolar login. If you’d rather not put your numbers into any tool, send them straight to us and we’ll walk them with you.

Do I have to use the tool — can I just ask iSolar?

Absolutely. If you’d rather have a real Minnesota installer walk your quotes with you, we cover a nine-county service area across the Twin Cities metro — no homework required, no pressure and no spam.
