Who we are & scope

This Privacy Policy explains how iSolar (“iSolar,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit isolarmn.com (the “Site”), request a quote, use one of our online tools, or otherwise interact with us. It also explains the choices and rights available to you.

iSolar is a Minnesota-based solar, battery, EV charging, and electrical contractor (License #EA761814), headquartered at 455 Broadway Ave, Suite #2, Saint Paul Park, MN 55071. iSolar works alongside affiliated companies, including Three Rivers Contracting and Three Rivers Electric (our “family of companies”). This Policy covers data collected through isolarmn.com; if you interact directly with an affiliated company’s own website, that company’s own privacy policy applies to that interaction.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or provide us with personal information.

1. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what we collect automatically as you browse, and what we receive from third parties.

a) Information you provide directly. When you request a quote, contact us, sign up for updates, apply for financing, or use one of our online tools, you may give us:

  • Contact information: name, mailing/service address, phone number, email address.
  • Property and energy information: your utility provider and recent kWh usage, and — if you use our Utility Bill Extractor tool — an uploaded copy of your utility bill, which can include your account number and usage/billing history.
  • Household information: if you use our Incentive Finder, information such as approximate household income or ZIP code, used only to estimate which incentive programs you may qualify for.
  • Communication content: anything you tell us in a form, over the phone, by text, or by email — including how we can help and who referred you.
  • Marketing preference: whether you opt in to industry updates and promotions (a separate checkbox from requesting a quote — we do not enroll you automatically).
  • Financing information: if you apply for financing, our lending partner(s) collect and process your financial and credit information directly, under their own privacy policy — see Section 6.
  • Career information: if you apply for a job with us, the information in your application and resume.

b) Information collected automatically. Like most websites, when you visit isolarmn.com we and our service providers automatically collect device and usage data (IP address, browser and device type, referring/exit pages, pages viewed, date/time of visit), an approximate location inferred from your IP address, and cookies and similar technologies (see Section 3).

c) Information from third parties, including Google (Analytics, Ads, reCAPTCHA, and the Google review feed we display on the Site), Meta (Facebook/Instagram advertising pixel), ClickCease (click-fraud detection), review platforms hosting reviews customers chose to leave publicly about us, and referral sources.

2. How we use information

  • Prepare and follow up on quotes, proposals, and project design.
  • Schedule site visits, assessments, and installations.
  • Communicate with you by phone, text, or email about your inquiry or project.
  • Operate and improve the Site and our online tools.
  • Process financing referrals, when you request them.
  • Send marketing communications, only to those who have opted in.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, including fraudulent ad clicks.
  • Measure and improve our advertising.
  • Comply with legal, licensing, warranty, and safety obligations.
  • Evaluate job applicants.

We do not use your information to make any fully automated decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

3. Cookies, pixels & similar technologies

We use cookies and comparable technologies, delivered in part through Google Tag Manager, including analytics (Google Analytics), advertising pixels (Meta/Facebook Pixel, Google Ads — used for retargeting), Google reCAPTCHA, ClickCease, and functional cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through your settings. You can opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Network Advertising Initiative, or your Google Ads Settings and Meta Ad Preferences. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Because we use the advertising pixels described above, some state privacy laws (including California’s and Minnesota’s) define what we do — sharing browsing data with Google and Meta so they can show you our ads elsewhere — as a form of “sale” or “sharing,” even without a cash transaction. Section 9 explains how to opt out.

Beyond that, we share information with service providers who host the Site and support our tools; our family of companies (Three Rivers Contracting, Three Rivers Electric) when a project needs their trade; financing partners, only if you apply; government agencies and utilities, to pull permits or register interconnection; professional advisors; a buyer or successor in a merger or sale of assets; and anyone else only with your consent or as required by law.

5. Text messages, calls & email marketing

If you provide your phone number, we may call or text you about your quote or project, including appointment reminders; standard message/data rates may apply. If you separately opt in to marketing, we may also text or email you promotions; opt out anytime by replying STOP or using the unsubscribe link, and we will honor that request. Opting out of marketing does not opt you out of service-related communications about a project you’ve already started.

6. Financing applications

If you ask about financing, you may be connected with one of our third-party lending partners. Any financial or credit information you submit as part of a financing application is collected and processed by that lender directly, under that lender’s own privacy policy, not this one. We recommend reviewing their policy before you apply.

7. Data retention

We keep quote requests, project files, and related communications for as long as reasonably necessary to serve you, honor our warranties, meet our licensing and tax recordkeeping obligations, and resolve disputes. Marketing opt-ins are kept until you unsubscribe.

8. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and restricted internal access. No website or system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we’ve collected, access a copy of it, correct inaccurate information, delete it, obtain it in a portable format, opt out of the sale/sharing of your information or targeted advertising, and appeal if we deny your request.

Minnesota residents have these rights under the Minnesota Consumer Data Privacy Act. iSolar is a small, Minnesota-based business — regardless of exactly which statutory thresholds apply to us, we extend these rights to everyone who visits our Site, not only where the law strictly requires it. Residents of other states with similar laws (such as California’s CCPA) may have comparable rights, which we likewise honor for all Site visitors.

To exercise your rights, email info@iSolarMN.com or call (651) 565-1140. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within 45 days (with a possible one-time 45-day extension for complex requests). If we deny a request, we’ll explain how to appeal, and if we deny your appeal, how to contact the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

10. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal. We honor Global Privacy Control opt-out signals where technically feasible; either way, you can always exercise the rights in Section 9 by contacting us directly.

11. Children’s privacy

isolarmn.com is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16, where applicable state law sets that threshold). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party sites we don’t control (financing partners, review platforms, social media, manufacturer sites). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We’ll post the revised version here with a new effective date, and, for material changes, provide additional notice where required by law.
