Solar panel repair, by the people who install them.
System down? Production dropping? Monitoring went dark? Our master-electrician-led crews diagnose and fix solar systems across Minnesota — including systems we didn’t install.
Most “broken” solar is one small part
Solar arrays don’t usually fail all at once. They fail one microinverter, one chewed wire, one tripped breaker, one offline gateway at a time — and production quietly slides until a big electric bill gets your attention. The fix is usually fast once someone who installs solar for a living looks at it. That’s us: iSolar is a licensed Minnesota electrical and solar contractor (EA761814), founded by a master electrician, with 500+ customers’ systems installed and maintained.
If it’s on the roof or in the wall, we fix it.
From a single dead panel to a full storm-damage claim — diagnosed honestly, repaired by our own crews.
Inverters & microinverters
The most common failure point. We diagnose faulted micros and string inverters, claim the manufacturer warranty where it applies, and swap failed units.
Monitoring offline
A dark app doesn’t always mean a dark array. We restore gateways and monitoring so you can actually see what your system is doing.
Wiring & critter damage
Squirrel-chewed leads, failed connectors, ground faults. We repair the wiring and add critter guard so it doesn’t happen twice.
Storm & hail damage
We document damage for your insurance claim, replace broken modules, and coordinate roof work through our roofing family company.
Roof being replaced? Detach & Reset →Racking, flashing & snow guards
Loose racking, lifted flashing, missing snow management — fixed and resealed before they become roof problems.
Underperformance
Producing less than promised? We compare actual output to the design estimate and find the real reason — shading, soiling, equipment, or an estimate that was never honest.
Orphaned by your installer? You’re who we built this for.
Minnesota has seen solar companies close and leave thousands of systems with no one to call. We take over those systems all the time: we inspect, restore monitoring, handle manufacturer warranty claims, and become your service contact going forward. Start with our guide to what to do when your installer closes — then call us.
Diagnosed in plain English, fixed in writing.
Tell us the symptom
Dead app, scary bill, visible damage — whatever you’ve got. If your system has monitoring, we often spot the culprit before we roll a truck.
Flat-rate diagnostic visit
A licensed technician tests the array, inverters and wiring and identifies the actual fault — not the easiest thing to bill for.

What’s wrong, what it costs, what’s covered by manufacturer warranty. You decide with real numbers.
Repair, verify, monitor
Our own crew makes the repair, verifies production is back where it should be, and leaves monitoring working so you can see it too.

Frequently asked.
Do you repair solar systems you didn’t install?
Yes. A large share of our service calls are systems installed by other companies — including installers that have since closed. Our master-electrician-led crews diagnose and repair most equipment brands.
My solar installer went out of business. Now what?
You’re not stuck. We service orphaned systems every month — start with our survival guide, then have us take over monitoring and service.
How much does a solar repair visit cost?
We start with a diagnostic visit at a flat rate, tell you exactly what’s wrong and what the fix costs in writing, and you decide. No mystery truck fees.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Often, yes. Panels, microinverters and racking usually carry manufacturer warranties we can claim on your behalf — and iSolar installations are backed by the 30-year Solar Insure warranty, which covers parts and labor.
My panels stopped producing after a storm. Does insurance cover it?
Hail and wind damage to solar is typically a homeowner’s-insurance claim. We document the damage, work with your adjuster, and — through our roofing family company — can handle the detach & reset if the roof is replaced too.
Why is my system producing less than it used to?
Common culprits: a failed microinverter (one panel down, rest fine), critter-chewed wiring, new shading from tree growth, dirty or snow-covered panels, or a monitoring dropout that looks like a production problem. A diagnostic visit sorts the real cause from the scary-looking ones.
