Your neighbors in Edina are going solar
Edina’s housing runs in distinct eras, and we’ve gotten to know them on the roof. Morningside and the Country Club District are the oldest, 1920s-40s Tudors and Colonials with steep, cut-up rooflines. Move southwest through Countryside, Pamela Park, and the Lake Cornelia area and you hit the postwar wave, ramblers and split-levels from the 1950s and 60s with simpler gable roofs. Out west in Indian Hills, Rolling Green, and Parkwood Knolls the lots get big and wooded, with sprawling contemporaries and plenty of oak canopy. We’ve completed installs in Edina and each one taught us something about how these houses are framed, sheathed, and shaded. When we quote a Countryside rambler or an Indian Hills contemporary, we’re not guessing at the roof, we’ve been on ones just like it.
See a recent example: a 27-panel, 11.61 kW system with Enphase battery storage we installed in Edina in November 2025.
Where solar produces best in Edina
The postwar neighborhoods tend to produce best. Ramblers and split-levels in Countryside, Pamela Park, and around Lake Cornelia usually have one or two long, low-pitch roof planes, and when one of them faces south or west you can fit a clean, uninterrupted array. Boulevard trees in these areas were often planted in the 50s and 60s, so shading is real but predictable, and many lots lost ash trees in recent years, which opened up roofs. Newer teardowns and rebuilds scattered through Edina help too, two-story homes with fresh trusses and simple hips take panels easily.
The harder cases are the Country Club District’s steep, multi-plane Tudor roofs and the heavily wooded lots in Indian Hills and Rolling Green. There we design around it: microinverters or optimizers so one shaded panel doesn’t drag down the string, arrays split across two or three planes, and honest shade modeling before we quote anything. On the larger west-side lots a ground mount is sometimes worth pricing out. If a roof genuinely can’t produce, we’ll tell you that instead of selling you a system that disappoints.
Solar for every Edina property.

Edina-area businesses stack the 30% ITC, depreciation and demand-charge savings for fast payback — on the roof or on the ground.
Farms & acreage
Edina-area farms cut costs on irrigation, drying, dairy and the shop with roof, barn or ground-mount solar — plus the 30% ITC, depreciation and current USDA REAP guidance.
Is your Edina place a good fit?
We look at what actually drives production in Edina (Hennepin County).
Homes & roofs
Edina spans a century of construction: 1920s Tudors and Colonials in Morningside and Country Club, 1950s-60s ramblers and split-levels through Countryside and the Cornelia area, and big contemporaries plus new two-story rebuilds farther west. Roof complexity varies just as much, from simple postwar gables to steep, cut-up historic rooflines.
Trees & shading
Edina takes its tree canopy seriously. Older neighborhoods have mature boulevard oaks and maples, and Indian Hills and Rolling Green sit under heavy woods. Emerald ash borer losses have opened up some roofs. We shade-model every array plane before quoting, not after.
Sun & seasons
Minnesota produces strong solar spring through fall, and cold, clear winter days are productive too. Snow slides off the smooth panels, and we size every Edina system for the full year.
Local power & incentives
Edina homes are served by Xcel Energy for electricity. That means net metering for excess production and Xcel’s Solar*Rewards incentive program when funding rounds are open. We handle the interconnection application, Solar*Rewards paperwork if you qualify, and the city permit, so your job is mostly picking a start date.
Local design, honest numbers
We design each Edina system around your roof, shading and real usage — premium Tier-1 panels and Enphase microinverters, installed clean and permitted by the same crew that starts the job. No subcontractors, no inflated production promises.
Battery backup in Edina
Pairing storage with solar keeps your Edina home or business powered through outages and banks your daytime production for the evening. We size it to what matters most to you.
Quality work, priced fairly.
You get the equipment, engineering and workmanship you'd expect from the big national installers — delivered by a local, family-owned crew that's here for the long haul. Every system is designed and installed by our own team, permitted and inspected, and backed by a 30-year warranty.

Frequently asked.
Does solar still work through Minnesota winters in Edina?
Yes. Panels actually run more efficiently in the cold, snow slides off the smooth glass, and our honest Edina estimates already bake in winter losses. Strong spring-through-fall production more than makes up for the short December days.
Which utility serves Edina, and do you handle the paperwork?
Xcel Energy serves Edina for electricity; there’s no split territory here (CenterPoint handles gas). Yes, we handle all of it: the Xcel interconnection application, net metering setup, Solar*Rewards paperwork if the program has capacity, and Edina’s city permit and inspections. You’ll get emails from Xcel to approve along the way, but we do the filing.
My Edina roof has some shade — can I still go solar?
Often yes. Per-panel microinverters keep your unshaded panels producing even if a tree shades part of the roof, and we map your roof's sun before we design. If shade is heavy, we'll tell you straight and look at a ground-mount where there's room.
Do you do business and farm solar in Edina too?
Yes — alongside home solar we install commercial systems (with the 30% ITC, depreciation and demand-charge savings) and agricultural or ground-mount solar for Edina-area businesses, farms and acreage. Same local family crew.

I live in the Country Club District, which is a designated heritage preservation area. Can I still put solar on my house?
Usually yes, with an extra step. The Country Club District is Edina’s heritage preservation district, so exterior changes visible from the street get reviewed by the city’s Heritage Preservation Commission. In practice that often means placing the array on rear- or side-facing roof planes and using all-black panels. Edina earned a SolSmart Gold designation partly for streamlining its solar permitting, so the city isn’t hostile to solar, it just wants the streetscape protected. We’ve navigated design review before and will prepare the drawings and attend the review if needed.
