When the City of Edina wanted to put its civic roof to work, iSolar delivered our largest commercial project to date — a 286-panel rooftop array on Edina City Hall, completed in June 2025.
The curved, modern roofline made for a striking — and technically demanding — install. We engineered a ballasted, low-penetration design that weights the array in place and protects the roof membrane, sized the system to the building’s daytime load, and built it for Minnesota wind and snow without disrupting city operations.
As a public, tax-exempt building, the City can capture the value of the 30% federal credit through elective pay (“direct pay”) — the provision that lets municipalities and schools monetize clean-energy credits even though they pay no federal income tax. The array offsets daytime building load, trims utility costs taxpayers ultimately fund, and puts Edina’s sustainability commitments on visible display in the heart of the city.
