I’m on a wooded lake lot on Lower Prior Lake with big oaks on the south side – is solar even worth doing on my house?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, and we’ll tell you straight after a shade analysis. On a lot of lake lots the west-facing roof plane clears the canopy even when the south face doesn’t, and afternoon production is still solid. Microinverters or optimizers keep partially shaded panels from hurting the rest of the array. If the whole roof is under canopy, options are a smaller system sized to the clear planes, selective tree trimming, or in some cases a detached garage or ground mount with better exposure. If the numbers don’t work, we’d rather say so than sell you a bad system.
