Bifacial panels have solar cells on the front and the back, so they capture direct sun on top and reflected light underneath. The technical term for that ground reflectivity is albedo — and fresh snow has one of the highest albedos there is.
Why Minnesota is a good fit
A bright Minnesota snowfield can bounce a meaningful amount of extra light onto the backs of your panels, adding production exactly when days are short. The gain is real but depends on the install: the panels need space behind them for reflected light to reach the back — which is why bifacial shines most on ground mounts and elevated racking, and less on a panel sitting flush to a roof.
